There is a difference between not finishing your food and throw away 181 kilos of food per year per person. The data extracted from the Natural Resources Defense Council show that each American throws on average 15 kilos of food a month, worth about $ 44. Some experts reflected in the Agriculture and Food Summit in Chicago Reuters this week that between 30 and 50 percent of the food produced worldwide are thrown away.
For his part Departamanto U.S. Agriculture estimated 23% of eggs produced and an even greater percentage of other products end up in the trash.
But do not forget the agricultural products that never enter the market for reasons as different as their bad looks or overproduction. In many cases these products never see the light in order to avoid price changes. In this way are stored and ultimately destroyed. Europe is ahead in these cases.
In Germany alone, more than 20 tons of perfectly edible food are thrown away each year to the container. In Britain go to waste 484 million unopened yoghurts, 1.6 billion without touching blocks (27 per person) and 2.6 billion slices of bread.
